PRAYING FOR PERU

Here are some ways to be praying for my ministry and the work God is doing in Cajabamba.

Praying for Peru: Welcome

FOR CAJABAMBA

  • While at the hospital with the Compassion Ministry, we have shared the Gospel with a number of people who are interested in having a relationship with God but are hesitant to accept Christ. God is definitely working in the hearts of these people. Pray that God continue to stir in their hearts and that they come to know the Lord soon.

  • The church has been asked by local officials to help out with a campaign for teenage pregnancy prevention; Cajabamba has the highest rate of teenage pregnancies in all of Peru. Pray that God use our involvement in this campaign to reach people here for His sake.

FOR CALVARY CHAPEL CAJABAMBA

  • Pray for harmony among the church staff.

  • Because Biblically-founded Christianity is uncommon there, some individuals in the town view the church as practicing a crazy, foreign religion. Pray that the town sees the church as a blessing and recognizes the love in which they are acting.

  • Pray for the current church members and for their growth in their relationship with God.

  • Pray that the church continues to grow and that church members will be a witness of the transformation that comes from a relationship with Christ.

FOR ME

  • Pray over the operations for my destination to Peru:

    • that God provides the funds and partners needed to carry out this calling,

    • for smooth processes for things like travel, completing paperwork, insurance, etc.

    • For wisdom in the small things even like knowing what to pack and not to pack

  • A possibility for creating a volleyball ministry has been sparked; there is also an opportunity to minister to the community through fitness-related initiatives. Pray that if this is God’s will that he reveal more vision for this. Pray also for God to reveal any other specific avenues for ministry while I am there.

  • Pray for a harmony between myself and the church staff, church body, and community members.

FOR ME

FOR

  • Pray that God give me courage to be bold and just to trust His security when I feel out of my comfort zone.

  • My Spanish is holding up, but there is definitely room for growth. Pray for my Spanish fluency, that it continues to increase so that I can seamlessly converse with the people here.

  • Pray for my driving (ha) as I am continuing to learn how to drive stick shift. Pray also that I continue to become well-oriented to the town.

FOR FUTURE PROJECTS

  • Volleyball Ministry: in our upcoming staff meeting, I will be proposing that we open up the church's volleyball court once a week for two hours so I can lead a skills clinic and organize volleyball play. Pray that God continue to guide me on how to develop this ministry. Pray that God also use my connections I have begun to make with local volleyball players to share about Him.

  • Social Media: I am also looking to enhance the church's social media through Facebook and Instagram. Although not as popular in the states, social media is used by people here. Increasing the church's social media presence will also allow for an opportunity to reach Spanish speakers outside of the Cajabamba area. Pray that God use this digital tool for His glory!

  • The Refuge of Hope: this is a transitional home and program that the church is creating for women and children who are being removed from domestic abuse situations. God has recently helped increase development of this ministry; please pray that God provide the staff personnel needed to run this ministry.
